Monel alloy is a solid-solution alloy that can only be hardboiled cold. Monel Pipes are composed of approximately 66 percent nickel and 31.5 percent copper, with trace amounts of iron, manganese, carbon, and silicon. The Monel alloy is an extremely ductile copper and nickel-based alloy with better corrosion resistance throughout a wide range. Monel pipes are particularly useful in aquatic environments and non-oxidizing chloride solutions. These pipes are often employed in atmospheres ranging from moderately oxidizing to moderately reducing conditions.

The ASTM B163 Monel K500 Seamless Pipe is especially suitable for use in centrifugal pumps in marine climate applications due to its extremely low corrosion rate in combination with single high-speed water as well as its increased stiffness attribute.

 

This Monel k500 pipe is made of nickel and is flash safe. The Monel K500 Welded Pipe is nonmagnetic up to a temperature of -200° F. However, a magnetic layer can be formed on the outside of the Monel DIN NR. 2.4375 pipe during handling. When aluminum and copper are particularly oxidized during the warming cycle, they leave a magnetic nickel-rich layer on the surface or outside of the K500 Monel Welded Pipe. Pickling or deep plunging in corrosion may be used to remove this nickel-rich, magnetic layer and restore the nonmagnetic qualities of the Monel Alloy K500 Round Pipe.
